Overview

The Units Overview sub-dashboard of the International Business Analysis suite gives Vendor Central brands a cross-marketplace view of unit volumes — the physical side of the business, free of currency effects. It consolidates Net Received Units (sell-in: units physically received by Amazon) and Ordered or Shipped Units (sell-out: units sold to customers) for all active Amazon marketplaces, with year-to-date scorecards, marketplace breakdowns, YoY trend charts, and a full unit P&L table including average sales price.

This is the right starting point when you want to understand volume dynamics independently of pricing or FX swings — for example, when revenue is up but you suspect units are flat (i.e. all the growth came from price), or when a marketplace's local-currency revenue masks a meaningful decline in physical demand.

This dashboard covers Vendor Central data only. Seller Central unit volumes are tracked separately.

What You Can See on This Dashboard

Section: YTD Unit Scorecards

Two KPI scorecards at the top give you an instant YTD pulse check across all marketplaces combined.

Key metrics:

  • Net Received Units YTD — Year-to-date units physically received into Amazon's inventory across all marketplaces, compared to the same period last year.

  • Ordered / Shipped Units YTD — Year-to-date sell-out unit volume across all marketplaces, compared to the same period last year. The label adapts to the Sales View filter: Ordered Units when Sales View = Ordered Revenue, Shipped Units when Sales View = Shipped Revenue or Shipped COGS. For the Sourcing distributor view, Shipped Units is always used.

Visualizations: Two number scorecards, each showing the current year YTD total and the prior-year equivalent side by side.

Section: Net Received Units by Marketplace — YTD Snapshot

  • Pie chart — Distribution of Net Received Units across all marketplaces for the full selected year, showing which marketplaces account for the largest share of your sell-in volume.

  • Bar chart (Net Received Units Development by Marketplace) — Net Received Units over time, stacked by marketplace. Time granularity adapts to the selected Reporting Range (weekly, monthly, quarterly). For the current year, the chart shows a rolling window of the last 12 months, 12 weeks, or 4 quarters; for past years, the full year is shown.

Section: Marketplace Units Summary Table (YTD vs. Prior Year)

A comprehensive YTD unit performance table covering all marketplaces in one view.

Columns shown:

  • Net Received Units (current year, prior year, YoY trend)

  • Diff. Man.–Sour. — the gap between Manufacturing-view and Sourcing-view unit counts, useful for spotting discrepancies between the two distributor models

  • Shipped Units (or Ordered Units, depending on Sales View) — current year, prior year, YoY trend

  • Avg. Sales Price — Revenue ÷ Units, calculated on the selected Sales View, with prior year and YoY trend, in the selected display currency

Visualizations: A detailed table with one row per marketplace, ordered by Net Received Units descending.

Section: Rolling Trend Charts (last 13 periods)

Two side-by-side line charts showing the last 13 reporting periods for all marketplaces combined.

  • Net Received Units — All Marketplaces — Current period vs. prior year, all marketplaces aggregated.

  • Ordered / Shipped Units — All Marketplaces — Current period vs. prior year, all marketplaces aggregated. Unit type follows the Sales View filter.

Only periods up to the latest available data point per marketplace are included, so partial periods do not distort the comparison.

Section: Marketplace-Level Trend & YoY Charts

  • Net Received Units Development by Marketplace — Line chart of Net Received Units over time, one line per marketplace.

  • Net Received Units YoY Trend by Marketplace — Bar chart of YoY growth rate (%) per marketplace per period, showing where unit growth is accelerating or declining.

Section: Monthly Development per Marketplace

A granular period-level breakdown table with one row per marketplace per reporting period.

Columns shown: Report Date · Marketplace · Net Received Revenue + YoY trend · Shipped Revenue (or Ordered Revenue, per Sales View) + YoY trend · Net Received Units + YoY trend · Shipped Units (or Ordered Units) + YoY trend · Avg. Sales Price + YoY trend.

For the current year, the table shows a rolling window of the last 12 months, 12 weeks, or 4 quarters; for past years, the full year is shown. All monetary values are converted to the selected display currency using annual exchange rates.

Filter interaction notes

  • Subcategory depends on Category — it only shows values relevant to the selected Category.

  • Sales View changes both the unit metric (Ordered Units vs. Shipped Units) and the revenue-based Avg. Sales Price calculation across the dashboard. Under the Sourcing distributor view, Shipped Units is always used regardless of the Sales View setting.

  • Distributor View affects Net Received Units and the Diff. Man.–Sour. column in the summary table.

  • Currency only applies to monetary fields (Net Received Revenue, Shipped Revenue, Avg. Sales Price). Unit counts are volume metrics and are never currency-converted.

  • Rolling window behaviour: For the current year, trend charts and the monthly table automatically show a rolling window (last 12 months / 12 weeks / 4 quarters depending on the Reporting Range). For past years, the full year is displayed.

Use Cases

  1. Separate volume growth from price effects — Compare the Net Received Units YTD scorecard against the Net Received Revenue YTD figure from the Revenue Overview dashboard. If revenue is up but units are flat or down, growth is being driven by price increases — not real demand expansion.

  2. Identify your highest-volume marketplaces — Use the Net Received Units pie chart and the Marketplace Units Summary table to see which marketplaces ship the most physical product, independent of local-currency revenue.

  3. Spot unit-growth winners and losers — Use the Net Received Units YoY Trend by Marketplace bar chart to rank marketplaces by unit growth rate. Investigate any marketplace with declining units even if revenue holds up (a sign of price-led, not demand-led, performance).

  4. Average Sales Price benchmarking — Use the Avg. Sales Price column in the marketplace summary to compare realised price across marketplaces. Large gaps between markets may indicate pricing inconsistencies, country-specific discounting, or assortment differences.

  5. Manufacturing vs. Sourcing reconciliation — Use the Diff. Man.–Sour. column in the summary table to identify discrepancies between Manufacturing and Sourcing unit receipts — a useful operational signal when the two distributor models should be in agreement.

  6. Sell-in vs. sell-out balance — Compare Net Received Units against Shipped/Ordered Units in the Monthly Development table. Sustained sell-in above sell-out builds inventory at Amazon; sustained sell-in below sell-out depletes it.

Limitations & Notes

  • Vendor Central only. This dashboard covers sell-in and sell-out unit data from Amazon Vendor Central. Seller Central units are not included.

  • Net Received Units vs. Ordered Units. Net Received Units reflects units physically received and invoiced by Amazon, not units Amazon ordered from you. Receiving delays, rejections, and chargebacks can cause meaningful differences between the two.

  • Sales View dictates the sell-out unit type. Under Ordered Revenue, the dashboard uses Ordered Units. Under Shipped Revenue or Shipped COGS, it uses Shipped Units. The Sourcing distributor view always uses Shipped Units. Be sure you know which basis you are reading before drawing conclusions.

  • Avg. Sales Price is currency-converted, units are not. Avg. Sales Price uses annual exchange rates to convert into the selected display currency. Cross-marketplace price comparisons should be interpreted with this in mind, and Avg. Sales Price columns may be hidden for accounts where average pricing is restricted.

  • Rolling window for current year. The current-year trend charts and the Monthly Development table show a rolling 12-month / 12-week / 4-quarter window — not the full calendar YTD. The scorecards and summary table at the top of the dashboard remain full YTD.

  • Latest-period truncation. Rolling trend charts only include periods up to the latest available data point per marketplace, so the most recent partial period may not appear.

  • Ignored catalogue entries excluded. ASINs flagged as ignored in your catalogue are always excluded from all metrics in this dashboard.
