⚠️ Inactive Detail Pages

Dashboard link: https://app.emax-digital.com/inactive-detail-page-monitor

Overview

The Inactive Detail Pages dashboard surfaces ASINs that should be live on Amazon but whose product detail pages cannot be reached. An inactive detail page means shoppers either land on an empty page, get redirected, or see a listing without a Buy Box — in all cases, the product is effectively unsellable. Because Amazon does not proactively notify you when this happens, this monitor is your safety net: it scans your catalogue every day and flags ASINs that have stopped responding, so your team can intervene before the revenue loss compounds.

The dashboard is designed for catalogue managers, vendor managers, and operations leads who need a daily or weekly checklist of "which of my products need attention right now," sorted by how much inventory and how many open POs are at stake.

This dashboard supports both Seller Central (3P) and Vendor Central (1P) accounts, and combined hybrid setups.

Note on naming: This dashboard was previously called the "Inactivity Alarm" in older versions of the tool and documentation. The name has changed to Inactive Detail Pages, but the underlying functionality — daily monitoring of which ASINs have become inactive/unreachable — is the same.

Catalog preparation (prerequisite)

The dashboard monitors the ASINs in your catalogue, so the value you get depends on your catalogue being set up and current. Two practices are recommended:

  • Use the catalogue filters. You can scope the view by Category, Sub-Category, and Tag — but only if those fields are maintained in your catalogue. See the Vendor Catalog and Seller Catalog documentation for how to fill in categories, sub-categories, and tags.

  • Cross-check the whole portfolio, not just the flagged ASINs. The dashboard flags products that changed to inactive. To review your entire portfolio's status, download your catalogue with the availability column and check whether each product has the correct status (Active, Inactive, Incomplete). If a status is incorrect, contact your Amazon account manager or Seller Support to update it. Common causes of an inactive ASIN are missing product information or an out-of-stock (OOS) situation.

Keeping availability accurate ensures the products that should be sellable are active again, and that customers no longer see inactive products — avoiding a poor customer experience.

What You Can See on This Dashboard

Section 1 — ASINs with Inactive Detail Pages (Overview)

A high-level breakdown of how many of your monitored ASINs are currently in each detail page state. This is your first glance: is the catalogue healthy, or is there a spike in inactive pages that needs investigating?

Key metrics:

  • Detail Page Status — the state of each ASIN's detail page on Amazon (see status definitions below).

  • Product Count — the number of ASINs in each status bucket.

Visualization: Pie chart showing the distribution of your monitored ASINs across detail page statuses, respecting all currently applied filters.

Detail Page Status — definitions:

  • Offline — the detail page cannot be reached on Amazon.

  • Forwarded ASIN — the detail page automatically redirects to a different ASIN's page.

  • Online No Buy Box — the page loads but has no Buy Box, so shoppers cannot purchase directly.

  • Online One Buy Box — the page is live with a single Buy Box winner (the normal healthy state).

  • Online Two Buy Boxes — the page is live and shows two Buy Boxes (e.g. New + Used).

  • Unknown — the status could not be determined.

By default, the dashboard filters to the three problem states — Offline, Forwarded ASIN, and Online No Buy Box — so the pie chart focuses on ASINs that need attention. You can widen the Detail Page Status filter to include healthy statuses if you want to see the full catalogue split.

Section 2 — Inactive ASIN Detail Pages (Detail Table)

The actionable working list. Every row is an ASIN that matches the current filter selection, sorted by total inventory in descending order so the highest-impact problems are at the top.

Columns shown:

  • ASIN — Amazon's product identifier.

  • SKU — your internal SKU.

  • Marketplace / Market — which Amazon marketplace the ASIN belongs to.

  • Product Title — the listing's title.

  • Detail Page Status — current status (Offline, Forwarded ASIN, Online No Buy Box, etc.).

  • Offline Since — the date the detail page was first detected as inactive (i.e. when Amazon's API stopped returning data for three consecutive days).

  • Last Checked — the most recent date emax digital attempted to retrieve data for this ASIN.

  • Report Date — the reference date of the underlying report row.

  • Tracking Frequency — how often this ASIN is being checked.

  • Inventory — combined on-hand stock across all channels (Seller FBA + Seller FBM + Vendor Manufacturing). Higher inventory on an inactive ASIN signals a more urgent issue.

  • Open Purchase Orders — outstanding Vendor Central PO units already committed but not yet shipped. High open POs on an inactive ASIN mean Amazon is about to receive stock for a product it cannot sell.

How "Inactive" is determined

  • An ASIN is marked Inactive only after three consecutive days without a successful Amazon API response. This three-day threshold suppresses false positives caused by occasional API gaps that occur even for live listings.

  • Sellers: ASINs with an Amazon status of Active or Incomplete are monitored automatically. You can check or update this status in Seller Central under Catalog → Setup.

  • Vendors: ASINs marked as Relevant — meaning Amazon reported them via SP-API within the last 12 months — are monitored automatically. You can verify this in Vendor Central under Catalog → Setup.

Filter interaction notes

  • Detail Page Status defaults to the three problem states (Offline, Forwarded ASIN, Online No Buy Box). To see healthy statuses or the full catalogue distribution, expand this filter to include Online One Buy Box, Online Two Buy Boxes, or Unknown.

  • Catalog Sub Category depends on Catalog Category — selecting one or more categories narrows the sub-category dropdown to matching values.

  • Marketplace depends on the connected accounts — only marketplaces emax digital has access to for your brand will appear.

Use Cases

1 — Daily catalogue health check

You want a 5-minute morning check that nothing critical broke overnight.

  • Open the dashboard with the default filter (Detail Page Status = Offline, Forwarded ASIN, Online No Buy Box).

  • Read the pie chart — if the inactive count has spiked vs. yesterday, something systemic happened (a feed error, a bulk listing change).

  • In the detail table, scan the top rows (highest inventory first) and the Offline Since column — any ASIN that went offline in the last 24 hours is your priority for today.

2 — Prioritising fixes by inventory at risk

Your team has limited capacity and you need to fix the ASINs that hurt the most.

  • Leave the default status filter on the three problem states.

  • The table is already sorted by Inventory descending — work top-down.

  • Cross-reference the Open Purchase Orders column: an ASIN with high open POs and an inactive page means Amazon is about to take in stock it cannot sell — escalate these to your vendor manager first.

3 — Investigating forwarded ASINs

You suspect a child ASIN or variant is being redirected, suppressing standalone visibility.

  • Set Detail Page Status = Forwarded ASIN.

  • Use the detail table to identify which ASINs are being redirected.

  • For each one, manually open the detail page on Amazon to see which ASIN it now points to — typically a variation parent or a consolidated listing.

  • Decide whether the redirect is intentional (e.g. variation consolidation) or a catalogue error that needs correcting in Seller/Vendor Central.

4 — Category- or brand-line audit

You manage multiple categories and want to focus on one segment of the catalogue.

  • Filter by Catalog Category (and Sub Category if relevant), or by Catalog Tag if you maintain custom labels (e.g. by brand line, lifecycle).

  • The pie chart and detail table both narrow to your selection — you can quickly see what proportion of that segment is currently inactive.

5 — No-Buy-Box recovery list

You want to find ASINs where the listing is technically live but no one can buy because there's no Buy Box.

  • Set Detail Page Status = Online No Buy Box.

  • These are often caused by pricing issues, suppressed offers, or 3P seller competition. Work the list against your pricing rules and Buy Box monitoring.

Limitations & Notes

  • Three-day detection threshold. An ASIN is only flagged as Inactive after three consecutive days of failed API responses. This avoids false alerts but means a brand-new outage may not appear in the dashboard until day 3.

  • Monitored scope depends on Amazon status. Sellers must have ASINs set to Active or Incomplete in Seller Central; Vendors must have ASINs marked Relevant (reported via SP-API in the last 12 months) in Vendor Central. ASINs outside these criteria are not monitored.

  • Inventory column requires connected accounts. The Inventory figure aggregates Seller FBA + Seller FBM + Vendor Manufacturing stock — if one of those accounts is not connected to emax digital, that portion of inventory will be missing.

  • Open Purchase Orders is Vendor-only. This column reflects Vendor Central PO data. For pure 3P (Seller-only) accounts, this column will be empty.

  • Detail Page Status filter defaults to problem states. If you do not see all your ASINs in the pie chart, check whether the Detail Page Status filter is excluding the healthy statuses — by design, it does.

  • Status reasons are not provided. The dashboard tells you that a detail page is inactive, not why. Investigation (suppressed listing, content compliance issue, image issue, etc.) happens in Seller/Vendor Central.

  • Last Checked vs. Offline Since.Offline Since is the start of the current inactive streak; Last Checked is when emax digital last attempted to fetch the ASIN. Use both together to understand how long an issue has been open and when it was most recently confirmed.
